Obverse
Like all US quarters since 1932, the obverse features a portrait of George Washington by sculptor John Flanagan. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.”

Reverse
Designed by AIP Designer Chris Costello and sculpted by Mint Sculptor-Engraver Phebe Hemphill, the reverse features Block Island National Wildlife Refuge in Rhode Island. A black-crowned night-heron flies over the beach at Cow Cove, looking towards Sandy Point. The North Lighthouse can be seen in the distance. Inscriptions read “BLOCK ISLAND,” “RHODE ISLAND,” “2018,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
