# 5 DOLLARS - 2021 Canadian Maple Leaf silver coin from the Maple Leaf series. This money has been produced continuously since 1988 by the renowned Royal Canadian Mint. Each piece, bearing the botanical symbol of Canada, is struck from pure 9999 sterling silver, weighing one troy ounce and measuring 38 mm in diameter. In addition, each silver leaf is guaranteed by the Canadian government and is legal tender in the issuing country. Walter Otto is responsible for the design of the image of the silver coin, which has remained unchanged for years.
Silver coins from the Canadian Maple Leaf collection have been part of the Bullion DNA program since 2015. This program ensures security and guarantees the originality of all coins in the collection.
The obverse of the silver bullion coin bears the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the face value. Since 2014, radial lines on the background of the coin have been an additional security feature
The reverse shows the maple leaf, which is the national symbol of Canada, as well as the fineness in which the coin was minted and the country of the issuer. From 2014, the mint additionally secured the coins by adding a miniature maple leaf with a micro-engraved mark in the lower right quarter.
